Titled “Olive Blossoms,” the eight-episode mini-series has been developed by IRIB’s international production department and will be jointly produced by Iran and Türkiye, with each side holding a 50-percent share.
The series will feature Iranian and Turkish actors under the direction of Ghaffarzadeh, known for films including Receiver and The Sea and the Flying Fish.
Based on historical accounts, “Olive Blossoms” is set in Palestine in 1947 and 1948, focusing on the period surrounding the end of the British Mandate and the replacement of local Arab people living in Palestine with Jews.
Filming is scheduled to begin in Türkiye in October. The series is expected to be broadcast on IRIB’s domestic and international channels as well as Turkish television networks.
Ali-Akbari, whose previous production credits include Saint Mary, Men of Angel and The Memories of an Unfinished Man, will serve as the producer of the international historical project.
