The statement further noted that 10 offending vessels, which were attempting to cross the prohibited and unsafe zone of the Strait of Hormuz with the instigation and support of the U.S. military, were also targeted and hit.
Detailing the broader scope of the retaliation, the IRGC announced that its Aerospace Force carried out a punitive operation code-named "Ya Haidar Karar" using powerful ballistic missiles:
- During this operation, U.S. Navy destroyers DDG-119 and DDG-53, which carry cruise and Aegis missile systems, were directly targeted and struck.
- The IRGC's solid and liquid-fuel ballistic missiles hit repair and maintenance hangars, aircraft preparation sites, and the deployment locations and shelters for F-35, F-16, and F-15 fighter jets.
