On Tuesday, September 7th, the United States imposed new restrictions on Iran’s aviation sector, targeting 36 individuals and entities, including 27 Iranian airline companies. In this regard, while referencing the “International Day of Democracy,” Fatemeh Mohajerani blamed the self-proclaimed champions of democracy for their double standards in implementing such sanctions.
Emphasizing the necessity of paying special attention to the airlines affected by these sanctions, Mohajerani announced the design of special support programs. As she said, the relevant ministries and departments are working on a package that includes providing banking facilities, utilizing the capabilities of knowledge-based companies, improving the efficiency of the current fleet, and merging smaller airlines.
In another part of the briefing, the government spokesperson pointed to the President’s recent trip to India to attend the BRICS summit, describing it as having significant achievements. The most important focus of this part of her statement was the finalization of Iran’s membership in the New Development Bank (the BRICS bank).
Referring to the summit’s final statement, she hailed the condemnation of attacks against Iran by member countries as a diplomatic victory, stating:
“While some are attempting to exert dominance and prevent interaction between independent countries, this condemnation showed that multilateral diplomacy can withstand unilateral pressures and solidify the legitimacy of Iran’s position.”
