Secretary of the 6th Imam Reza International Congress Saeid-Reza Ameli stated: “The Fifth International Congress of Imam Reza (PBUH) was held in 2024, during which the ‘martyred Leader’ [referring to the late President Ebrahim Raisi] emphasized themes such as supplication, enlightenment, mysticism, and ethics, while insisting that the congress’s topics must address contemporary issues.”
He noted that the central issue today is the oppressive hegemony of the U.S. and Israel across various regions of the world. “The U.S. has created an unjust structure through its controlled international organizations and institutions, seeking to dictate terms to all countries and utilizing these oppressive bodies to impose various forms of sanctions and pressures,” he added.
Ameli pointed to the existence of “structural oppression” in the world, stating, “Today, more than ever, we need the governance of justice-oriented thinking, justice-oriented institutions, and just behavior in the world.”
He further highlighted the various forms of domination employed by hegemonic powers, including physical, geographical, economic, cultural, algorithmic, systemic, and cognitive domination.
Science Can Turn Into Gaza Traged If in Hands of Savages
Still, another scholar, President of the Academy of Sciences Mohammadreza Mokhber Dezfuli remarked that science, as a form of power, can lead to tragedies like the situation in Gaza and mass killings of innocent people if it falls into the hands of “savage individuals,” whereas it brings prosperity to humanity if it is in the hands of “monotheistic and reformist individuals.”
He mentioned that the martyred Leader paid serious attention to scientists and their support, adding that today, 2% of the world’s scientific output and 3% of the world’s highly-cited articles are produced by Iranian scientists.
“We have transitioned from being consumers of science to producers of science, and we have now begun the phase of influence. The next step is a civilizational view of science, as this type of science is inspirational and widely accepted by humanity," he pointed out.
The Sixth International Congress of Imam Reza (AS) opened on Thursday morning at the Astan Quds Razavi Foundation for Islamic Research. This international event focuses on the concept of human rights and dignity within the epistemic system of the Ahl al-Bayt (PBUT) and the civilizational teachings of Imam Reza (AS).
The objective of the congress is to explore the capacity of the teachings of the Ahl al-Bayt (PBUT) to provide civilizational responses to contemporary global challenges.
During the congress, the theoretical foundations of “fighting against arrogance and the system of hegemony,” based on the teachings of Imam Reza (AS) and the strategic thoughts of the martyred Leader of Islamic Revolution, were examined as one of the main axes of the specialized meetings.
