TEHRAN — A large-scale public exercise under the “Janfada” (Devotees) campaign began in Tehran on Friday, with crowds gathering along a designated route stretching from Imam Hussein Square to Enghelab (Revolution) Square.

The exercise is part of a broader nationwide “Janfada-Ye-Iran” campaign launched this year, which is aimed at mobilizing citizens to contribute to the country in a range of areas, including defense, emergency response, social services, and other national activities.

According to campaign officials, more than 31 million people have registered with the initiative and declared their readiness to contribute to defending the country.

The Tehran exercise was announced earlier this month by Basij Commander Hojjatoleslam Hossein Taeb as a 313,000-person event intended to demonstrate public solidarity, preparedness and resilience in the face of external threats.

Greater Tehran IRGC Commander Brig. Gen. Hassan Hassanzadeh also said preparations for the event had involved registration at mosques, Basij bases, public squares, offices and neighborhoods across the capital.

Iranian media have reported that the Janfada initiative is also moving toward the organization and training of volunteer groups, including plans for 1,000 national resistance battalions.

The latest exercise comes after months of nightly Janfada gatherings in Tehran and other Iranian cities, which organizers have presented as expressions of national solidarity and readiness amid heightened security tensions.
