The officers were performing routine duty when their vehicle came under attack. Two passers-by were also injured in the firing and were taken to a hospital.
Following the incident, a heavy contingent of police reached the area and launched a search operation to trace the attackers. Further investigation is underway.
There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the attack. However, militants affiliated with the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) have long been targeting security forces in the region, which borders neighboring Afghanistan.
