Brigadier General Hossein Mohebbi, spokesman for the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), called on journalists to convey the IRGC’s 25-page letter to the American people “in full and faithfully,” describing it as an effort to present Iran’s position and promote direct dialogue with the U.S. public.
Mohebbi said Iran seeks to communicate directly with Americans, particularly intellectuals and young people, and urged media organizations to make the letter widely accessible. He also said Iran is continuously developing new defensive weapons and would deploy new capabilities if the nature of the conflict changes.
The IRGC spokesman said Iran has prepared for various scenarios, including military, economic and maritime pressure, as well as attempts to create unrest inside the country. Addressing Iran’s nuclear program, he questioned the U.S. withdrawal from the JCPOA, saying the agreement had established limits and an IAEA inspection mechanism. He rejected allegations that Iran seeks nuclear weapons, saying Iran’s leadership has prohibited their development.
On the U.S. military presence in the region, Mohebbi said American bases have failed to provide regional security and argued that regional countries should establish security arrangements themselves. He added that U.S. pressure and restrictions would not sever Iran’s economic and commercial ties with its 15 neighboring countries, stressing that Tehran would continue using regional connections to mitigate the impact of what he described as a U.S. blockade.
