An Israeli airstrike on a residential apartment in western Gaza City killed five Palestinians, including a child, amid continued genocide in the Gaza Strip, Al-Jazeera reported.

Gaza’s al-Shifa Medical Complex confirmed the deaths, saying the five were killed when the Israeli military targeted the residential unit in western Gaza City.

The latest fatalities come despite a ceasefire that took effect in October 2025 following an agreement between Hamas and Israel aimed at ending the war and facilitating an exchange of captives.

Hamas announced on October 9, 2025 that an agreement had been reached to end the war in Gaza and exchange captives. The Israeli military announced the implementation of the ceasefire the following day, but Israeli attacks on the besieged territory have continued.

Israel launched its genocidal war on Gaza on October 7, 2023. It later entered negotiations with Hamas that led to agreements on exchanging captives.

The Israeli war, backed by the United States, has killed more than 74,000 Palestinians and caused widespread destruction across the Gaza Strip.

Around 90% of Gaza’s infrastructure has been destroyed or damaged, according to estimates cited by Palestinian authorities, while the United Nations has estimated that reconstruction will require tens of billions of dollars.
