Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said Iran’s participation in the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly has demonstrated that the country has solutions for both war and peace.

Speaking at a briefing with ambassadors, heads of foreign diplomatic missions and representatives of international organizations based in Tehran, Araghchi said Iran had clearly articulated its positions, noting that the level of interest among various countries in meeting with Iranian officials and learning about Tehran’s views and proposals had been significant.

He said the perception held by some in the United States that Iran could be turned into an isolated country had “completely failed,” stressing that Iran had played an active role in New York as a powerful country respected by the international community.

According to Araghchi, Iran demonstrated that it continues to pursue rational positions and has solutions for both war and peace.

Addressing U.S. claims that the Iranian delegation had been expelled from the country, Araghchi said that, regardless of the accuracy of the claim, the delegation had traveled to New York and returned according to its pre-arranged schedule.

He described the U.S. assertion as “truly strange,” saying the United States had, on the one hand, acknowledged that it had acted contrary to its obligations as the host country of the United Nations and had demonstrated that it was not a worthy host for the world body.

On the other hand, he said, the reaction demonstrated the extent of U.S. displeasure over the presence of the Iranian delegation.

Araghchi compared the alleged conduct to a host country of the Olympic Games expelling athletes from another country after its own team had lost, describing such behavior as equally “childish and degrading.”

He also praised the performance of Iranian diplomats at the UN General Assembly, saying they had been active across various areas, conveyed the voice of the Iranian people to the international community and delivered their message of peace and support for rational and peaceful solutions.

Araghchi said Iran had clearly explained its conditions for reopening the Strait of Hormuz, adding that he would elaborate on those conditions.

He stressed that all of Iran’s conditions were consistent with commitments that the United States would have to accept.
