The first pediatric cancer diagnosis and treatment center within the medical sciences universities of Iran was opened on Thursday, October 8, 2026, coinciding with International Children’s Day.

The ceremony was attended by First Vice President Mohammad Reza Aref, Minister of Health and Medical Education Mohammad Reza Zafarghandi, and Head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran Mohammad Eslami.

The project is one of two projects that were supposed to be inaugurated. It is the first university-affiliated center for the diagnosis and treatment of pediatric cancer. Additionally, the construction process for the second project, the 320-bed Amir A’alam 2 Hospital, officially began today, and it is expected to be completed soon to serve the public.

Yet, some sections, such as radiotherapy, are not yet fully completed. The project is expected to be finalized shortly and made fully available to the public.

Iran holds a high standing in the provision of cancer treatment services, with the university-affiliated center creating a valuable capacity for providing specialized services and alleviating the suffering of children with cancer and their families, despite the santions the U.S. is imposing on the Iranian children.
