Iran's President left Tehran for Ashgabat of Turkmenistan to meet with the leaders of the Caspian Sae littoral states.

Before departing for Turkmenistan this afternoon, Masoud Pezeshkian said “This trip is taking place at the invitation of the honorable President of Turkmenistan and has two main objectives. The first is attending the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) summit as a guest, and the second is holding discussions with the leaders of the Caspian littoral states regarding the serious dangers facing this sea.”

Pezeshkian referred to the reduced water inflow, the risk of drought, oil pollution, and overfishing as factors threatening the region’s ecosystem, and stressed the exchange of views on mitigating the challenges during this trip.”

Noting that “the relevant ministers are already there discussing commission matters,” he said, “This is a very good opportunity for us to deepen our relations and increase our engagements with our neighbors.”

Iran share borders with 15 countries in the region, and through any of these routes, it can conduct many of its economic, trade, political, and security exchanges.
