Islamabad (IP) — Leaders of the Majlis Wahdat-e-Muslimeen (MWM) have urged the Pakistani government to stay out of the conflict involving Yemen and to maintain its role as a mediator, warning that joining the war could damage Pakistan's international standing and adversely affect its domestic situation.

Addressing a press conference in Islamabad, MWM Vice Chairman Allama Ahmed Iqbal condemned aggression against Yemen, praising the Yemeni people for their resilience and their support for the Palestinian cause.

He said Yemen had confronted Israeli actions in support of Gaza, including attacks on ships and the launch of missiles and drones. He added that the Yemeni people had continued to resist despite facing severe hardships.

Allama Ahmed Iqbal called on the Pakistani government to implement the parliament's earlier decision that Pakistan would not participate in the Yemen conflict but would instead play a mediating role. He also urged Saudi Arabia to halt its bombing campaign in Yemen and lift the blockade.

He further alleged that a false-flag operation had been staged to draw Pakistan and Türkiye into the conflict, while calling for an investigation into allegations concerning attacks on Makkah and Madinah.

Speaking at the same press conference, MWM leader Allama Hasnain Gardezi said Pakistan was already facing serious challenges, including tensions with Afghanistan, a lack of public confidence in the government and security threats from India.

He warned that Pakistan's participation in another conflict could undermine its international reputation and have adverse consequences for the country.

Both leaders stressed that Pakistan should exercise caution and pursue diplomatic efforts rather than become a party to the Yemen conflict.
