Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC) Navy says it struck a third super tanker in the Strait of Hormuz on Monday after the vessel switched off its navigation system and ignored warnings from Iranian naval forces.

In a statement, the IRGC Navy said the tanker was attempting to leave the strait in violation of its instructions and disrupt security and order in the strategic waterway. The vessel caught fire after being hit, it said.

The force warned that commercial vessels and oil tankers cooperating with the U.S. military in the Strait of Hormuz and the Persian Gulf would face a decisive response, describing the U.S. military as an aggressor force involved in smuggling and plunder.
