In a message marking the birth anniversary of Hazrat Zeinab (SA) and National Nurses’ Day, Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Mojtaba Hosseini Khamenei praised the role of Iranian women in supporting national resistance during the war.

In his message on Friday, the Leader of the Islamic Revolution described nurses as “angels of mercy,” highlighting their contribution to society's physical and psychological well-being.

He also condemned sanctions imposed on Iran's medicine and medical care sector, saying such measures are intended to inflict suffering on the Iranian people.

"At a time when the malicious gang of global arrogance spares no effort to inflict all kinds of oppression and crimes on free and resilient nations, particularly the Iranian nation, and is seeking to impose suffering on the great Iranian nation, including by imposing various restrictions on healthcare and medicine, paying attention to nurses, strengthening the nursing community, and preserving and enhancing nurses’ knowledge, skills, capabilities, vitality, motivation, and dignity, particularly those who have devoted themselves to working in non-private institutions, have a significant impact on the physical and mental health and security of society," the Leader noted.

Elsewhere in the message, Ayatollah Khamenei highlighted the prominent role of the Iranian women in shoring up the country's resilience against the U.S.-Israeli war of aggression on Iran:

From its very beginning, the history of the Islamic Revolution is full of scenes showing the Zeinab-like presence of the Iranian women and girls. This phenomenon took on astonishing quality and quantity during the nation’s incomparable period of resurgence, realized in the Third Sacred Defense. Today, the Zainab-like women of Islamic Iran, through their prominent presence in various arenas, particularly in cities and villages, are the pioneers of practical enlightenment and resistance behind the lines of hard warfare; so much so that the tyrants of our time, who perpetually seek the suffering, pain, and suppression of this nation, find themselves powerless to confront this massive army.

In the Iranian calendar, the birthday of Hazrat Zeinab (SA) is named the National Day of the Nurse, because of her self-sacrifice to disseminate the message of the Karbala battle: justice and resistance against oppression and global tyrants.
