Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian announced upon his return to Tehran that drafting a comprehensive strategic document between Iran and Armenia has been placed on the agenda, following his participation in the 17th Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity in Yerevan.

Pezeshkian said the policies and actions of powers claiming to champion civilization and human rights are the main cause of global ecosystem destruction and irreparable damage to forests, soil, air, and nature, especially during wars.

He stressed the necessity of creating a common outlook and language among politicians and international experts to raise global awareness, noting that the consequences of destroying the planet recognize no race, border, or ethnicity and will affect all societies.

The President said Iran's participation at the presidential level in this global summit for the first time demonstrates the country's serious determination to protect the environment.

On the sidelines of the summit, he said, constructive talks were held with the Prime Minister of Armenia on drafting a comprehensive strategic document, and with the Prime Minister of Georgia on historical and cultural commonalities.
