The call was made during a program organized in Abuja on Friday by the Muslim Sisters Forum to celebrate the birth anniversary of Sayyeda Zainab (AS), where female speakers highlighted the role of Muslim women in promoting justice, supporting the oppressed, and educating younger generations about the values of resistance.
Prominent female scholar Najma Amin said one of the key responsibilities of contemporary Muslim women was to spread the message and ideology of resistance against oppressors among fellow African women and young people. She noted that Sayyeda Zainab's efforts to preserve and communicate the message of Imam Hussain (AS) following the tragedy of Karbala played a crucial role in ensuring that the struggle against injustice reached people across the world.
Ummulkhair Muhammad stressed the importance of women's participation in the struggle against imperialism and oppression, citing the role played by Iranian women during the 1979 Islamic Revolution. She attributed Iran's achievements and growing international influence partly to the country's adoption of the values of courage, sacrifice, and resistance exemplified by Sayyeda Zainab (AS).
Kauthar Kabir Imam called on contemporary women to draw practical lessons from the teachings of the late Ayatollah Imam Ruhollah Khomeini, who famously stated that every day is Ashura and every land is Karbala. She urged women to support efforts by the Axis of Resistance against injustice while standing in solidarity with oppressed people around the world.
The female speakers emphasized that Sayyeda Zainab's life remains an enduring example of courage, steadfastness, eloquence, and commitment to truth, and called on African Muslim women and young people to translate these values into action through education, public engagement, and sustained advocacy for justice.
