Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and Iraqi Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein met on the sidelines of the 52nd Session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in Baghdad.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed bilateral ties and key regional developments.

Araghchi stressed the need for greater unity and solidarity among Muslim nations in addressing issues facing the Islamic world, particularly Palestine, and called for stronger Iran-Iraq cooperation in economic, trade and security fields.

He said insecurity in the Strait of Hormuz was a direct consequence of U.S.-Israeli military aggression against Iran, adding that security could be restored if Washington halted its aggressive and interventionist actions.

On Yemen, Araghchi said the conflict could not be resolved through force or blockade, stressing respect for Yemen’s sovereignty, territorial integrity and the human rights of its people. He also reaffirmed Iran’s readiness to help facilitate dialogue between the parties.
