Basij Organization Commander says the United States and Israel have failed to achieve their objectives despite deploying more than 500 aircraft and carrying out around 200 sorties a day during the war against Iran, arguing that the scale of their military campaign has made them cautious about renewed direct confrontation.

Hossein Taeb warned on Sunday that any new act of aggression against Iran would trigger an unpredictable response, stressing that the country’s Armed Forces were prepared to deter another attack and respond in ways that adversaries could not anticipate.

He said Washington and Tel Aviv had initially expected to replicate their experiences in Afghanistan and Iraq by forcing Iran to surrender through air and naval warfare. The U.S. and Israeli regime had deployed more than 500 aircraft to the region, conducted approximately 200 sorties daily during the fighting, and dropped more than 1,000 tons of bombs per day while launching missile strikes.

“Where did they end up?” Taeb asked, arguing that their failure to achieve their military objectives had forced them to approach the prospect of another military confrontation more cautiously.

He said the United States and Israel had miscalculated Iran’s resilience and had subsequently shifted toward economic pressure, attempts to create insecurity, proxy groups, and regional and international alliances to pursue a new phase of war.

Military Deterrence, Unpredictability of Iran’s Response

Taeb said Washington and Tel Aviv had initially believed they could force the Iranian nation to surrender through either a three-day war or a six-week conflict, assuming that Iran’s resolve had weakened following their military setbacks.

“These assessments turned out to be completely wrong,” he said, emphasizing that the Iranian people and the Armed Forces had remained steadfast. He added that the U.S. had come to recognize the error in its calculations.

Addressing Washington’s economic pressure campaign, Taeb said the U.S. was now facing the consequences of its attempts, while the unpredictability of Iran’s defense strategy had become a further deterrent against renewed aggression.

“Why don’t the Americans enter a direct war? One reason is their retreat, and the second is the unpredictability of our defense strategy in this new phase, where we respond, what means we use, and when we respond,” he said.

Taeb added that most U.S. intelligence agencies were publicly acknowledging that Iran’s response in the event of another war would be unpredictable, leaving adversaries uncertain about Tehran’s potential course of action.

He stressed that the operational readiness of Iran’s Armed Forces must translate into effective deterrence, preventing adversaries from contemplating another act of aggression.

“If they ever make a mistake, they must know that an unpredictable response will follow,” the Basij commander warned.
