Around 50 ports worldwide are expected to see labor actions on Friday in solidarity with the Palestinian people and in protest against Israel’s war on Gaza, with the number potentially rising to 100, the head of the Palestinian Transport Workers’ Union has said.

Alaa Mayyasi said unions from around 17 countries would take part in the actions, which are expected to include disrupting ship movements and refusing to handle vessels linked to Israel.

He said the campaign aims to increase international pressure on governments to take practical measures to stop the war on Gaza.

Mayyasi also said efforts were underway to extend the campaign to the aviation and rail sectors, as well as maritime transport.
