During the protest on Thursday evening, demonstrators chanted slogans including "No to a fascist government" and "No change without partnership," and raised banners, one of which read "Partnership alone brings peace," while another carried a picture of Netanyahu stained with blood.
Participants said they gathered to support Eisenkot and pressure him to move toward forming a cabinet that includes Jewish and Arab parties, calling on him not to submit to racist rhetoric and to take advantage of the election results to remove Netanyahu from power.
Protesters stressed that partnership with the Arab community is necessary to form a new cabinet, considering that the Arab community acted ideally during the war, and that it is possible to reach a coalition agreement with it and form a cabinet soon.
These moves come a day after the official election results were announced, which showed Netanyahu's camp obtaining 53 seats out of 120 in the Knesset, compared to 48 seats for the opposition bloc led by Eisenkot, while Arab parties made progress by obtaining 19 seats, giving them a pivotal role in cabinet formation negotiations.
The final results are scheduled to be officially handed over to the head of the Israeli regime, Isaac Herzog, on Wednesday, after which consultations with party leaders will begin in preparation for tasking one of them with forming the cabinet, amid expectations of complex coalition negotiations that may last for weeks, and the possibility of heading to new elections if a ruling coalition cannot be reached.
