Protesters gathered outside the Azerbaijani Embassy in London for a third consecutive week on Friday, condemning restrictions on women wearing hijab in educational institutions in Azerbaijan.

The demonstrators said the ban violated women's rights and freedom of religion, arguing that students should not be denied access to education for wearing the Islamic headscarf.

“We are here to show the Azerbaijani government that we stand firmly with the women of Azerbaijan,” Fatemeh-Zahra Mohammadi told Iran Press in an exclusive interview.

Another protester, Abu Bashir, said the demonstration aimed to make the protesters' concerns heard by Azerbaijani authorities.

“We are here to protest against the ban on hijab. We want our voice to reach the authorities in Azerbaijan. They must change their attitude towards the education of women wearing hijab in their country,” he said.

The protest ended with demonstrators vowing to return next week and continue their campaign until, they said, the rights of women in Azerbaijan are respected.
