Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said Tehran currently sees no need for a meeting with U.S. officials, stressing that Iran’s conditions are clear and mediators are continuing consultations on them.

He said Iran has carefully reviewed a message from U.S. Vice President JD Vance and discussed it at senior-level meetings. If Washington agrees to Iran’s conditions, Tehran will decide whether to hold negotiations directly or indirectly.

Araghchi announced that an Iranian delegation is heading to Doha, while his deputies are already in Qatar to continue consultations on Iran’s demands.

He said Iran’s conditions include lifting sanctions imposed after the Islamabad memorandum of understanding, reducing the number of U.S. forces in the region, reinstating oil waivers, and releasing all frozen Iranian assets, including those held in Qatar.

Araghchi also stressed that Tehran's conditions include recognition of the new maritime route Iran established in coordination with Oman in the Strait of Hormuz, and that other maritime routes through the strait should be closed.

The foreign minister described Iran’s proposal as the only plan currently on the table for reopening the Strait of Hormuz.
