In his opening remarks, Senator Mushahid Hussain Sayed welcomed the Iranian Ambassador as a champion against America and Israel, describing the present period as an era of global transformation marked by declining Western influence, the rise of China and the emergence of Muslim middle powers. Identifying Pakistan, Iran, Türkiye and Saudi Arabia as key regional players, he stressed that Muslim unity was essential to counter common threats. Highlighting Pakistan's diplomatic efforts, he cited the Iran-U.S. ceasefire, the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding and the October 21 Tehran meeting as three major achievements, asserting that regional countries must take the lead in shaping their future free from foreign interference.
Iranian Ambassador to Pakistan Reza Amiri Moghadam, in his address, underscored the historic transformation of Iran following the 1979 Islamic Revolution under the leadership of Imam Khomeini (may God have mercy on him). He recalled how Iran had evolved from the Shah-era "second Israel" into a formidable center of resistance against Zionism, and acknowledged Imam Khomeini's role in mobilising millions of Iranians to support the Islamic Revolution. Welcoming the proposed Makkah Defence Alliance initiative, the Iranian ambassador commended Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir for bringing the four Muslim countries together in Tehran. He said the initiative had drawn a positive response from the leadership of all four countries, adding that unity among Pakistan, Iran, Türkiye and Saudi Arabia would make it difficult for any hostile power to threaten them.
Ambassador Masood Khan, former President of Azad Jammu and Kashmir and former Pakistani ambassador to the United States and China, described the regional situation as disasterous and explosive. He stressed that all sides must pursue a peaceful settlement of the conflict, particularly concerning the Strait of Hormuz, warning that any alternative to diplomacy could have dangerous consequences for regional and global stability.
Other speakers, including prominent journalist Nasim Zehra, former Ambassador of Pakistan to Saudi Arabia Admiral (Retd.) Hasham Siddiqui, and Dean of NUST Major General (Retd.) Zahid Mahmood, also discussed various dimensions of the conflict and its wider implications. They appreciated Pakistan's initiative in bringing the Makkah Defence Alliance delegation to Tehran, describing Muslim unity as essential to countering Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's vision of a "Greater Israel."
