The Sadr International Award will feature two special sections dedicated to the intellectual legacy and ideas of the late Imam Khomeini and the martyred Ayatollah Mohammad Baqir al-Sadr, the head of the Islamic Culture and Relations Organization (ICRO), has announced.

Speaking at the ceremony to unveil the call for submissions for the second edition of the award, Hojatoleslam Mohammad-Mehdi Imanipour said the initiative primarily seeks to identify and showcase outstanding academic achievements and intellectual capabilities in the Islamic world.

He noted that Iran, particularly following the U.S.-Israeli war, has attracted growing attention and gained a wider audience across the world.

Imanipour described the Sadr International Award as a complementary platform to other academic festivals, saying its distinctive approach sets it apart from similar initiatives.

The award will cover eight main disciplines, encompassing the full range of Islamic and humanities studies. This year's edition will also introduce two special categories focusing on the thought and intellectual contributions of the martyred Ayatollah Mohammad Baqir al-Sadr and the martyred Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei.

Elaborating on the award's objectives, Imanipour said it aims to identify innovative theories and scholarly contributions developed within Islamic seminaries in the field of Islamic humanities that have the potential for international recognition. It also seeks to facilitate the global dissemination of outstanding selected works and expand their reach among academic audiences worldwide.

He added that university presidents, faculty deans, and academics would serve on the award's scientific committees. The second edition is being organized in cooperation with the Qom Seminary.
