“Lucas” drones were developed by modeling Iran’s Shahed-136 drone. The U.S. Army seeks to extensively utilize these low-cost munitions to carry out drone strikes against various targets, by establishing and deploying the special “Task Force Scorpion Strike” unit in the region.
Over past months, U.S. forces have attempted to expand their offensive capabilities in the region by deploying these drones. However, multiple incursions of these munitions into Iran's airspace have been thwarted by the air defense systems. The downing of two more in Bandar Khamir proves another failure for U.S. army.
